Folks tuning into the Hayride tomorrow morning at 10am, should expect a plethora of tunes from the Sadies. That’s because they will be bringing their psych dosed twang thang to the Capital District on Sat. the 13th down at Valentines. We will also play a a couple from the Felice Brothers who will be at the Linda on Thursday the 11th, along with brand new music from Kasey Chambers and the Duhks. If there ever was a reason to hop aboard the Hayride, this show might just be it!
Monday Night Football isn’t the only thing coming back on Sept. 8th. The Adirondack Hayride returns from its summer vacation in it’s usual time-slot 10am-12 Noon. The playlist page has been recently updated as well and we hope to have the Podcast Corral straightened out real soon as well. Enjoy what’s left of summer and look for us real soon!
to quench the Reducers’ desire to share their joy of just wanting to ROCK! The Reducer’s provide the Hayride’s closing theme each week, an instrumental called Spaghetti Western #6, which can be found on the retrospective collection Redux. The new CD, Guitar Bass & Drums is available in numerous locations online, including iTunes & Amazon. You can also purchase all their CD’s at their label site Rave On Records. We hope to get a Capital Area appearance for the Reducers set up in the not too distant future!
We used to be huge fans of Imus in the Morning, but lost track and faith after he was kicked off the air last year. He’s been talking about this CD for what seems like an eternity, but apparently it is finally seeing the light of day. If we can score a copy, we might even spin of few of these tunes. All proceeds benefit the Imus Ranch for Children with Cancer, a worthy endeavor regardless of how you feel about ole Donald.
We are pleased to welcome local singer songwriter Dianna Cristaldi to the program this coming Monday, Aug. 11th. Dianna has a remarkable story and some music inspired by it to share with our listeners. She will join us in the 11am hour. To learn more about her and listen to some of her music, check out her MySpace and Facebook pages.
Reading about Jimmie Dale Gilmore’s appearance this coming Sunday, July 27th AFTER the program last Monday reminded us yet again, that with a bit more show prep, I might actually be more on the ball and let the listeners know in advance of these special events. Oh well, we are making amends by mentioning it here. So know you know, that master Texas singer-songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore and special guest Jenny Scheinman will be appearing at the venerable Caffe Lena Sunday nite. Tix are likely scarce if not long gone already though.
Due to a medical commitment (not the loony bin variety though), the program stays in the barn this coming week. We will return on August 4th for the full three hours.
On the program yesterday we made mention of Steve Earle’s upcoming visit to Saratoga in August as part of the SPAC Saratoga Folkfest. Today we came across a fan site that has lots of info about Steve Earle collectibles.
Via the gang from Pitchfork comes word of two new CDs from the ageless Charlie Louvin. There will be tour dates as well, although nothing nearby as of yet.
We were very excited to get word that another Hayride favorite will be coming to the Capital District later this summer. Canada’s own twang guitar gods the Sadies will be hitting Valentine’s on Saturday Sept. 13th. You can expect to hear a lot about this show on the program, and be prepared to be cajoled and even bothered about whether you plan to attend. Our guy Howe has gone above and beyond to bring us these kinds of bands to our backyard, and too often the support is just not there! So you’ve been warned!
