The title lyric from REK’s song is as apt a description of the vibe at last evening’s performance at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall; which featured three of the best examples of Americana song-craft. Bruce Robison, Robert Earl Keen and Todd Snider each treated the audience to a sampling of their catalogs, along with a healthy dose of irreverent humor. The result was a loose and free form musical conversation between performers and audience that was enjoyed by both in equal measures. It was fairly obvious that this tour began as a bit of an experiment, but that these guys have discovered that it works and they can have some fun while delivering on the promise. Two parts honky-tonk, one part comedy club equaled a great excuse to venture out on a rainy October night.
